Default Hose Attached to Top of Differential?

I noticed a hose dragging in the rear of my 1995 4 cylinder S10 near the rear axle. From under, I can see it is clamped to an opening on the top of the differential. But no idea where it is supposed to connect on the other end. Some part of the smog system? Truck seems to run ok. But... Thanks.

I am assuming I am talking about the part numbered 9 on this page. But I have no idea where parts 7 and 8 are found. Thanks for any suggestions.

It's the differential vent. Just zip-tie it to the frame so it doesn't suck in water. Make sure you leave enough slack so the axle can move up and down.

Thanks. I guess this explains why I can find no place to connect it.
