Hot air blowing from vents
I just bought a 2005 Blazer and when the AC is of it blows hot air into the car. I dropped it off at the dealer they said they would look at it but that it is normal for air to blow in from the vents. I can understand fresh air, but hot air? I live in Florida, enough said
Anyway, is this true? I have yet to get my car back but i will keep you posted.

Read the owners manual. It explains what each of the vent settings does. You could have it set to draw in outside air and not know it.

yep, did that. It has 2 settings open and closed. When its open and the air is off, I get hot air that smells like engine. Even on the cold days we had here it was blowing hot air so it doesnt seem like its outside air. We'll see, I should get it back over the weeekend.

Does it do this while driving down the road, standing still, or both? Is your rear hood seal intact? It should have a seal against the rear edge of the hood to keep engine air/heat pushing down below the vehicle. If the seal is not there, then hot engine air is allowed to make its way to the cowl area where the HVAC intake is.
This is not a good thing to be lacking as it could allow some very harmful air into the passenger compartment if you were to have an oil leak or something of that nature.

It only does it when the AC is off and the truck is moving. It does'nt do it when it's sitting idle. It's a brand new truck under 1000 miles on it. If they tell me that its ok, I'll have to mention the hood seal. It makes sense, I bought the truck 4 days after we had a major hurricane. Do you think it could have messed up the seal?
I was supposed to get it back today but just like any dealer, its not ready as promissed. They have had it for a month fixing some minor scratches and the hot air issue. They gave me a Trail Blazer to drive in the mean time, they think that's supposed to make it better. I'm ready to get my Blazer back that I drove for a month before I had to take to them for service.
.
Thanks for the heads up on the seal. I'll keep you posted.
