Default How to adjust E-brake?

Hello all

In doing some searching for a rattle in my 2002 Zr2 Blazer recently, I found that my E-brake adjustment is not at all holding the truck at all. Kinda funny how this thing works where by with your foot, it feels like it has plenty of tension, but in working on it under the truck, I see it is not grabbing at all.

Anyway, I have looked under the truck and just under the drivers side I see what my old fashion late 70's mechanic eyes wanted to see which was a simple cable adjusting setup.

But in looking at it close and tracing the cables, it kinda looks like that nut adjusts the cable to the passenger side rear brake, but I kinda don't see how it tightens the drivers side.

In not seeing any other way to do it, I thought it must some how do both but I figured I better make a post here to the ones who would know before I screw up some kind of balance between the rear brakes.

So sorry to be long winded on what is probably a simple question but I wanted to explain that before I asked.

So to get to the question, how do I adjust this, do I just tighten that one nut, or is there some other way.

Thanks for any help.

doubt the nut needs touching. they work by the cable creating a center pull, like a bycicle, look at it ull see. im guessing u have rear discs? have a buddy work the e brake and look at the backing pplates, if the cables and arms are both pulling, u need to fix the shoes or actuators inside the rotor. they are adjustable indepently from inside the brake rotor only. im guessing the shoes have fallen apart or missing all together. common isnt even close to describing this. just make sure both cables pull at the backing plates before u do anything
