Default How to check if starter is going???

Hey guys,

I tried to start truck this a.m., turned key ignition and held it down. All lights in dash come on. I hear fuel pump working. Nothing for start. No sounds nothing. I tried again nothing. I tried 3rd time - held key down for approx. 10 seconds and starter caught and truck started.

It has been doing this on/off for a while now. Any suggestions as to what this can be or how to check it out???

Any pointers please...

Thank you

The symptoms you list are not conclusive of a bad starter, but you could pull it out and have it bench tested. Without a fuel pressure check, the pump cannot be ruled out. It could also, be a weak battery. See where this is going? Also, please put your vehicle information into your signature, so we don't have to guess what type truck you have.
