Default How to disable the dome lights

Silly question I know

97 Blazer
Is there a way to disable the interior lights from going on when you pull the door handle but don't open the door?

My truck has a alarm and some of the local punks have found out if they just pull the door handle the alarm goes off, they seem to think this is funny!

Right now my choices are not to set the alarm...not happening in my neighborhood and getting woke up at 3am every darn night!

Thanks

Default Auto Theft

In Florida you can be charged with auto theft if you check the door to see if it is unlocked. I'd set up a camera and keep setting the alarm.

i say run a couple powered lines to the door handle and let them yank that.

Isn't there like a button that you can press 3 times and it will turn the Dome Override on/off? Or is that the Auto Headlights I'm thinking of?''

Edit: Now I remember. You click it once to turn the dome off, but you have to click it 5 billion times within 5 seconds for the headlight thing.

It should be underneath the light intensity dial thing.

You could try removing the handle switch input (black, pin B) from the interior lamps control module (under the driver side dash near the parking brake) or disconnecting it all together. THIS POST has the wiring schematics for the interior lamps.

My daughter's '96 Jimmy has a switch by the rear dome light (accessed by opening the hatch and reaching inside) that disables all of the interior lights. I guess that it is located there so that you can open the tailgate for extended periods without having the lights on the whole time.
