Default How much is a 1998 blazer 4x4 worth?

Hi, I am new to the forum and I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I am Looking at buying a 1998 blazer with 125,000 miles on it. They are asking $2500 or best offer but Im sure he will go down to $2000 at least. But it needs a few things like the windows only go down with the drivers buttons, the rear speakers dont work, I was told the a/c doesnt work, but the biggest one that im not sure about is that it seemed to run rough when it was could but after I got 2-3 miles down the road the thing drove just perfectly. As far as I could tell that was all that was wrong with it, I am going back tomorrow with a code reader to see what codes it has ( the abs light and the check engine light is on) Anyways I was just hoping I could get some advice on what kind of a deal that is or what might be wrong with it?

look it up on kelly blue book

If it has that many problems, I would suggest you stay away from it, unless you are willing to shell out the cash that will be needed to get it fixed up all the way.

www.kbb.com free search just pick your options it offers. and look into a carfax report
www.carfax.com i think its like $25.00 but its worth it. you don't want a salvage vehicle.
blazers have issues no matter what year it is. ive seen them all the way up to the trail-blazers. not knocking blazers. i own 2 and ive been a gm lover all my life. but gm hasnt gotten better with age. wine ages well gm turns to vinegar.

Thanks, I went to kbb earlier and I swear I couldnt find blazers for some reason but I found it this time. The lowest price was $3,400 (fair) That really makes me think its worth it, Im just worried about it running rough when cold. It doesnt seem like it could be much based on the fact that it ran just fine after it was warm?

scan the pcm it could be a lot of things. could be the egr, injector assy, mass air flow sensor, map sensor, the codes help a lot. just give details on test results if you post them.
as for the price. factor in the repair costs and work a deal. www.rockauto.com for good parts or www.injectorwarehouse.com for the injector assy. if the pic you posted is of the truck it looks good. speakers and windows can be fixed. factory stereos suck in blazers anyways. windows could be a switch, no big deal. engine problems could be. that's why reading the codes can be so helpful. good luck and if you buy it enjoy the ride

have you checked to make sure the "window lock" switch wasn't pushed to "lock"? it's a commonly overlooked thing.

keep us posted on what you find out tomorrow.

Has the truck been tune up lately? They suggest 100,000 miles, I suggest doing it earlier then that. I did mind at 50,000 and they plugs were barly worn (they could go 100,000), but the dist cap and rotor do at every 50,000. (that could cause some of your ruff idle).

Plus make sure to replace (or clean) the little things that we take for granted; ie the egr vavle, check vacumm hoses, etc.

Bought my 2001 in Feb/09 for $2000CAD. It had a few things wrong with it, but all minor fixes. Not sure if that helps you or not...

I bought my 99 blazer 4x4 with 121k for $1500...had a bad abs sensor... it seemed like a good deal...but the engine had enough HEAVY gear oil in it to make it sound okay...for the few miles i tested it. Put a reman engine in and it has still been one thing after another wrong...

Moral...if it seems like you are getting a good deal chances are there are other issues with the car.
