Default HVAC fan question

So about a month ago my HVAC fan started cutting out intermittently, weather it was on heat or AC. Now it won't come on at all. I had the fan replaced last year, so my question is before going out and getting a new fan is there anything else I should check? All my fuses are good. TIA.

Are you talking about the heater/AC blower motor? If so those don't as a rule go out. The switch could be BAD.

Yeah, I meant the blower fan. Which switch are you talking about and where is it located? I don't know much about how the heater/ac system works. Thanks.

Default Similar problem

Not meaning to hijack your thread, but have you found a resolution?

I posted a similar problem about 2 weeks ago, but did not get a response. I have a 98, with Automatic Climate Control. I started blowing erratically, on/off - high/low, and then quit. Every once in a while, it will come on, but normally, nothing. I have replaced the blower (fan), the controller (on the dash), and the fan control under the hood (near the blower). All fuses, and relays have checked out, and after searching the forum, I checked voltages at some points that were indicated for other (similar) problems.

Does anyone have any ideas???

No, I haven't yet had time to go out and look at it. Definitely a pain in the butt though. I'm going to look at it tonight and I'll let you know if I've found anything.

The fan switch on the dash is the switch I'm referring to. Is this an automatic climate control? If so I have no idea. Sorry

When it does quit working... will it still work only on high? If so then it could also be an issue with the blower moter resistor.

Yes, as far as I can remember it is only when on high setting. I'm going to rip apart my dash tomorrow and check everything that I can see. Where would I find the blower motor resistor?

The blower motor resistor is located on top of the HVAC housing under the hood. You may have to cut some of the plastic outer shroud off to access it.

If your fan only works on high, then I would definitely take a look at the resistor. Somewhere around here I posted what the resistances should be throughout the resistor...
