Default Identifying a sensor

My brother found a "sensor" dangling loose underneath his 95 4.3 4x4 Blazerafter some vigorous off - roading. I haven't seen it but he described it as looking like a spark plug a with spring loaded BB at the threaded end. No changes in the way it runs, no check engine light, and no fluid leaks. The wires seem to originate somewhereat the back of theengine compartment and are long enough to have allowed the threaded end to drag on the pavement on the way home.

Does this part sound familiar to anyone?

I doubt he can get a picture to me - no internet. It almost sounds like some kind of pressure switch considering the spring loaded ball in the end. Mine isn't a 4x4 so I'm not familiar with the switches on the T-case for them.

Thanks for the picture! Is that a vacuum hose that it's connected to or is that insulation for wiring? It's possible that it could have fallen down from there.

You know what,I have no clue & I wish I could know! I'ved looked in my GM shop manual and I cannot find info.It sure looks like a hose tough(its long),if its for wirring then i'll be dammed!

The wires seem to originate somewhereat the back of theengine
I'll look at it tomorrow when its not dark,i'll follow the line.I'll also look in front of the firewall for more possible sensor wires, spring loaded BB...

I'm sure the expert on the site would know...

What is pictured above is the vent for the front differential.

Really need to see a picture of what it is that your brother has a question about to be sure that we properly identify it...
