Hold on a second here,you're saying its a vent! Should I remove the cap at the end then(the one you see in the pic)?I'm confused[:-]

No, you don't need to remove the cap on the end. If you were to remove it, you would see that it is not sealed. Its purpose is to relieve any pressure from differential that may result from increases in temperature. The vent is located up high to limit the introduction of water into the diff.

I agree with Swark, its a vent line.
the thing on the end is a foam air filter. YES, even your differential has a air filter. In fact both your diffs and t-case have air filters. The purpose of the vent is to let hot air out of the diffs, thus helping them stay cool.
As for the thingy with the spring and ball. Could you give a better description. How long is it, how many wires, how wide, where does the wire attach (on the end, middle, side), what colors are on the wire(s)?
