Default Ignition/Blown Fuse

My blazer keeps blowing the Ignition fuse (IGN A - If I remember correctly...maybe IGN B - the 40A one). We can't figure what is causing it exactly. It blew last night while I was driving and I was forced to pull over and have it towed. We discovered the blown fuse this morning and replaced it, hoping it'd hold long enough to get to a mechanic, but as soon as I put it in gear, the fuse blew again.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I wish I knew for sure what the problem is, I think you might have a short to ground in the park/neutral switch on the left side of your transmission.
Check the wiring at the switch to see if the wires appear to be rubbing on anything.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I figured it out. The metal plate under the steering column was rubbing against a wire and cut through the insulation. It looked like a few wires had tape in that "area" to prevent this, but it rubbed through just above wear the tape was protecting it. I also added electrical tape along the edge of the metal plate to keep it from rubbing through any more wires.

That's a pretty intense design flaw.

Glad you got it fixed, but the factory doesn't use tape to protect a metal edge. Sounds like somebody was up in there messing around at sometime or another. If you can get some plastic wire loom over the wires in question, I'd do that. If not, then just put some 3/8" plastic loom over the metal edge.

Actually, there is an after market anti-theft system installed. It was installed before the last owner, because he didn't know much about it.

Also, I ended up removing more screws than I put back in. . .
