How hard is it to remove and replace an old ignition coil and control module?

 

They share a bracket on top of the engine. Shouldn't take more than 20 minutes the first time through. Rivets have to be drilled out or cut off to get the coil off the bracket if its never been replaced before.

Can I just replace the coil or should I change both the coil and module at the same time?

 

Just wondering, why are you doing this? I think you can get them checked at a good parts store. I have had to change the module but never the coil, just luck I guess. Rivets are no sweat but there is a little pack of grease that comes with the module that you have to use. If it's not in the box give it back.

 

Because I reason to believe that my coil is going bad.. and yes its the original.. its never been replaced

 

took me twenty minutes .... quick n painless. new one looks nice and clean.. probably the only benefit.
