Thanks for clarifying. You have me confused when you say you have to press a button to turn it off and release your key. Could you elaborate on this?

so all the items I'm talking about are supposed to be under my steering column shroud, which I have removed while I'm trying to figure this issue out.
The "button" I have to press is part of my steering column lock, and for some reason pressing that button type item makes it so I can turn the key to the off position all the way.

The button I have to press is the brass coloured one in the image. And in pressing it, the key is able to turn fully off
I replaced that part, no fix
I replaced the ignition cylinder and ignition switch, no fix
This whole problem started after I tried changing my multifunction switch on my own.
Mechanics have told me that it is this or that, and I've followed their lead and still no fix.
