Ignition switch not turning.
1998 Blazer 4x4 automatic. My ignition cyclinder won't turn. I also have a steering wheel issue where the wheel is locked. The truck's front end messed up on me and it made the steering unaligned in the sense that i have to have it at 10 o'clock for the front wheels to be straight.I used to have to wiggle the key and it would turn on,but now it won't budge.I sprayed graphite lubricant, I hit the key with a rubber mallet. I jacked the front up so it wouldn't have pressure. I had my dad help me turn the wheel while I turned the key and we ended up forcing it loose, but even when I got the wheel straight and loose the key cylinder won't go forward. I've been battling my truck for months and it's been sitting for a while. I wan't it out of the way.got the column taken apart and I tried putting a new lock cylinder, but I can't because I have to get it to the on position and I can't shift the truck either. Thanks for any suggestions.

Ignition Key Vandalized; they tried to steal my 1998 Blazer
Hope I'm not intruding, but bumping this for your good too; I see no replies to your dilemma.
Me, They tried to steal my car; punched out the passenger door key cylinder etc, AND thoroughly ruined my ignition switch and all plastic surrounding it. I guess I've got to be acting as a criminal against myself because to remove it professionally, I've got to insert key and turn to start and follow the remaining procedure. I can't get the key into the damaged entrance, so can't turn it. So, without damaging everything else in the path, how can I remove the ignition switch to get it replaced? Crime so rampant here I can't get an appointment to have it done professionally; can't even get an appointment.
How can I remove this ignition switch without using a sledge hammer?
Thx
