yesi have spark at the coili think i know what i did after getting it to the compression stroke number 1 i turned the crank pulley by hand to line up the marks but i turned it counter clockwise because that mark was closest to the notch i should've turned the engine clockwise and i believe that was my mistake

Default its alive

i mustve done the procedure a dozen times marks lined up rotor pointing to the 6 and everytime it was audibly wrong i finally got the no1 cylinder at the very beginning of the compression stroke rotated the crank clockwise until the mark lined up with the timing cover and obseved that the rotor was still pointing at the 6 at this point I thought t myself it has to be close but still sounded like the starter was fighting compression so I took a chance and backed it up 1tooth bolted it back in and she fired right up

For me on my what i believe is an 01 block the distributor will only go in correctly on TDC compression, If the marks are aligned on exhaust stroke it will be offeset by a tooth and wont line with the #6 mark. Either way if its running now then good stuff.
