I finally got the toe setting close; with steering wheel level/straight/centered.......whatever is the best term.....Blazer goes straight down the road, for a short bit.
That $99.99 alignment starting price they have advertised in their window.....is $125.00 since I have a 4wd. I told the guy that can only set toe....he just responded, yeah okay....$125. No thanks, bye.
Called a different shop, they offered a two-wheel alignment and that is what I asked for. Was told a four-wheel alignment is $119.95. I replied, only need a two-wheel as can only set toe. He replied, yeah, that is how they get you....$119.95.
I gave up, made an appointment for 8:00am Jan 2. Which might be a mistake if the tech that does the alignment has a hang over or is still drunk.
Expecting tomorrow morning to not go well...............

Huh? Having 4wd has nothing to do with needing a 4-wheel alignment on a vehicle with a fixed rear axle. All you need is a front-end/2-wheel alignment.

This might apply to a Subaru, but not a Blazer.

@christine_208...yep...only need...can do a two-wheel alignment on a Blazer. I will argue that point with them when I am there. Have no idea how much the guy that answered the phone and made the appointment knows about vehicles.
If I had the money and the space I would have a lift, an alignment machine, tire changer, tire balancer, engine stand, engine hoist, etc, etc.....
That way I would no longer have to deal with idiots that work at auto repair shops....but I do not.

Yikes. $120 for an alignment, you got to save a lot of rubber to make up that kind of money.
Seems like last time I went in for one it was like $40. And all they do is the toe?
I align the toe myself with a length of string and two wrenches. Tires wearing evenly far as I can tell.

Well toe-in has been set. I had it set with too much toe-in, which I could tell from driving it. I tried using a string method but could not get a valid reference to measure from that I was satisfied with.
Yeah, I am out the $120 but it is set now. Funny note from the tech was: "fair amount of play in steering after alignment". I just agreed telling the check-out person that with six pivot / ball joints....yeah there is going to be a fair amount of play.
Steering wheel is level when going straight down the road now.
