Default Install hood struts

Has anyone ever installed hood struts on their 2nd gen S10 or Blazer? I am wanting to get rid of the prop rod. Was wondering what kit you used and how hard it is to install?

I have no info on this subject... I have changed gas shocks on my tailgate on a 98, but everything obviously was already factory installed. The shocks were not cheap though, $50 bucks or so each...

I did it on my Blazer. Was really nice for working under the hood. The hardest part is supporting the lower strut mount. The rain tray isn't strong enough on it's own, and will flex quite a bit. You'll need to fabricate brackets to support the lower strut mount. The upper mount was fine riveted to the hood.

I haven't gotten around to doing it on my Sonoma yet, but it's on the list of future mod possibilities.

This is something I've been looking at for a while, too.

Here's an option from eBay....has fender brackets, as well;

I installed the hood strut on my 89 S15 Jimmy and am quite satisfied. I have the strut kit for my 2000 GMC Jimmy but have not installed it yet.
