Installing Axel shaft

Default Installing Axel shaft

My sons 98 blazer i changed the wheel bearing and the upper and lower ball joints the axel shaft needed to be changed on the right side. I cannot get it back in and seated all the way. there is about a 1 in gap between the axle and the shaft i know there are 2 snap rings in there does anyone know any tricks to get it all the way in ive never had any probs before changing axles this one is p!ssing me off Thanks
