Today we were shopping. I stopped & shut off the Blazer everything was OK. Came out & started the truck then the wife remembered she forgot something. So I went to turn off the Blazer & it shut off but the key would not turn to the lock position, yet the trans shifter was locked. So I messed with it with no luck. So I sat in the Blazer while she went in & got what she forgot.
When she came out I started the truck & the check engine light was on & only 2nd & 3rd gear. So I thought great we are 60 miles from home. So we made one other stop & I decided to pull the battery connection & reset the computer. Well when I connected it back everything was OK. Key turned to lock & the trans shifted OK. We came home with no trouble.
I have no idea what happened or why it straightened out by resetting the computer.
Any ideas. I think the trans could be the electronic box on the trans but the key issue was interesting for sure.

PS this is a 1997 Blazer 4x4.
