Default Intermittent Air Bag light

Hello , I have the intermittent SIR light and the code is B0036 , I have followed the GM diagnostic chart , but I have a question I hope someone can answer. Step 5 check for 1050 ohms , I can see 1k at the right sensor and that makes sense because the schematic shows a 1k resister inside , the left does not show a resister and I cant read any ohms and that would mean maximum resistance , the chart says replace it , but I checked a half dozen or so left sensors and none of them showed ohms.....Am I correct to say the chart is wrong ?. The chart also talks like there is only 1 sensor .

Welcome to the forum.
We really need to know what we're working on
Year, make, model, 2 door, 4 door, what transmission, 2WD, 4WD?

Hi , and Thanks.

2005 Jimmy , manual, 2 door, 4x4

Airbag lite comes and goes , code B0036 , If I clear the code it comes back the same day. Like my other post says , I checked a bunch of left hand sensors and none of them read any ohms and the schematic does not show any resister for the left like it does the right....The book also talks like there is only one sensor like some of the previous GM's had. I didn't see any wiring issues on the previous inspection but I will do a more thorough one soon.

There are two D squib sensors in front. B0036 could be a failing left sensor, or a poor connection somewhere in its circuit. The GM factory shop manual shows the 1K ohm resistor on the right sensor, but none on the left sensor. Can't find any more resistance values in the manual, probably because a scanner is normally used to diagnose the system. The SIR system does a self test each time the ignition is turned to the RUN position. One of the steps in the self test checks the sensors. If a sensor fails, it tests the sensor 2 more times, if it still fails, it turns the air bag light on and sets a DTC in memory. Without a scanner to pin down the problem, you can try another sensor, but it MUST be the correct one. They all have part numbers on them, and they must match the original sensor number.
