the rears usually last a bit longer , only about 35% of your braking power comes from the rear wheels, and it really depends on your driving habits to how often they need to be changed. iv heard 30,000 miles but iv done it way before that and my dads had them last a bit longer. As for changing the shoes and drums jack the truck pull both tires off and do one side at a time using the other side as a reference so you get them back together. drums aren't as quick to do as disk.

Ok, so they are acting up again. I replaced the rotors in front. I can hear grinding and squeaking from the back. Could bad rear drum brakes cause it to jerk when coming to a stop too? It's not as bad as before, but it's really annoying.
