Default just a click when try to start after driving

I've got a few problems that seem to have started around the same time.
First, after driving for a while, if I shut it off and then try to restart it it will just make a single click noise and will not turn over. After it cools down for about 30-40 minutes, it starts fine. This problem doesn't happen on short trips of a few miles, just after being run for awhile. I don't know how this may be related, but before this starting problem started, the service engine soon light had been on for several months (forgot the code, but it was something minor). Since this starting problem began, the light went out. Kind of puzzling too me.

Second problem is that i have a significant power loss when the temps and humidity go up. Runs great in the cool weather and rain, just gets sluggish when it gets hot and humid out.

One last note on these problems. When I shut the blazer off, temperature gauge reading is normal. If I wait 5 minutes or so and turn the key on, the temperature gauge will be a lot higher than when I shut it off. Have never seen anything like this on anything I've ever driven.

Like I said in the beginning, not sure if these are related problems or just coincedence, but sure could use some ideas on these problems.

the temp gauge thing is pretty normal, the water is not circling around the engine/radiator to be cooled so it just sits in the engine block causing it to be hot, usually you will see when you start it it will go back down in a few seconds.

if its not even cranking when its hot it could be that the starter is to hot. had a old toyota like that, replacing the starter and/or putting a heat shield around it should help
