Hello everyone! Ok just to put it out there I know nothing about cars so please bear with me here. I have a 2002 Blazer ls 4.3 ltr engine. We recently had the radiator replaced and a tune up. The service engine soon light came on yesterday and we checked the fluids and noticed the oil was really low and the power steering was also low. We added more of both in today. So for about a month or so I've noticed a minor leak of some sorts coming from behind (and to the side) of the front passenger tire. It looked like water so I figured it was condensation or whatever from the AC. Well when I got home today it was leaking alot!!! Alot more and faster than it was before. I decided to take a closer look at the liquid and it looks like a clear, semi oily (looks like water but doesn't drip off your finger) liquid with no scent.
Would any of you have an idea of what this is? We have also replaced (in the past) the AC compressor, Internal Computer, and we just replaced the fuel pump last week. I'm really getting tired of all this breaking and fixing and breaking again. Any help would be great!

Sounds like normal a/c condensation except for the 'oily' part. The location is certainly correct.

 

Why would this happen when the heater is on, not the AC. Is it possible? or is the AC somehow engaged? dont know, but its ALOT of water!

 

When the heater is in the defrost mode the AC is on.

 

Why worry about it? The OP hasn't been back in 2 1/2 months so he doesn't seem concerned.

Thing is I got home from a long trip last night and a huge amount of water was leakingfrom what appeared to be nowhere! haha, so I used the lovely search feature to find this post, assuming that someone else would have already had my experience.

I aprecciate the quick response, but why the heck would the AC be on with the defroster? I guess Im not seeing the logic, could someone explain?

 

The AC comes on to remove moisture from the air to defrost the windows much faster.

 

The a/c works with the defroster to pull moisture out of the air while it cools the glass. Pretty standard set-up in automobiles.
