left brake light problems
I have a 99 zr2 blazer and the left brake light does not work unless you turn on the right hand turn signal then it lights up the way it should. The right brake light works and so does the third brake light any suggestions?
I have the same EXACT problem on a 99 jimmy. I've check all connections in the rear of the vehicle and everything looks fine. Tomorrow I'm going to try a new brake light switch. I hope that fixes the problem?? I'll try and let you know the out come.
I have the same issue. I think its the brake light switch. I actually took the passenger side tail light assembly and hooked it up on the driver side and it produced the same results. My directionals work fine. It is just the brake light that is a bit wacky. So, tomorrow I am going to purchase a new brake light switch. Hopefully that will fix the problem. If not, I will proceed to drive the vehicle straight into a brick wall and then I will have more problems. But, at least at that point, the least of my worries will be my tail light.
I had a problem similar to this on my old 87 S10. It ended up being the turn signal lever assembly. If I barely nudged it up like I was going to turn right, the left brake light wouldn't work. So, I had to make sure to nudge it down like I was about to put on the left blinker anytime I drove it.
As you know, I pretty much have the same issue. So this afternoon, I changed out the brake light switch that sits atop of the brake pedal. A brand new switch only costs $10.00, so I said, "What the you-know what?" and I changed it. This did not solve the problem.
So, remembering midnightbluS10's response, I held my foot on the brake pedal and wiggled the turn signal lever ever so slightly, and the tail light came on and off, repeatedly. Based upon midnightbluS10's response, I will change out the turn signal assembly tomorrow. If I can remember, I will update this thread with the outcome. Thanks for eveybody's help. The sad thing about owning this stupid vehicle is that by the time I get ready to get a new ride, I will be close to an expert on all the issues that exist with a 2000 Chevy Blazer. Then I will have to start all over again with a new vehicle.
