Hey guys. I have a 2000 Chevy Blazer LT 4dr 4wd and just did a AC compressor/accumulator/orific tube swap yesterday. Everything went fairly smooth for the install of new parts. Put oil in both the accumulator, just under 1/2 ounce, and the rest of the 8 ounce bottle in the compressor.... So alil over 7 1/2 ounces. Even when I put the oil in, I did as instructed, and turned the hub about 10 times. And I put the freon in myself with the kit from Autozone.
Now when I start the truck, it runs just as it did when I bought it.... Perfect. But when I turn the AC on it has a real faint hum you can hear within the cabin. And when I come from a stop and am under 20 mph, there is a very light vibration in the steering wheel. Over 20mph and its back to normal, but just under 20 mph. The hum noise is on all the time when the AC is on. When I pop the hood and run the rpms up to about 2000, there doesnt seem to be any play in the compressor at all.... Even when the AC is on. The serpentine belt seems to run fine, no play in it either. And you cant hear the hum in the engine bay, just in the cabin.
Also, my accumulator, the port you connect to put freon in, Im guessing the low side port, is still leaking with the new accumulator. Not sure how to stop it.
First time doing an AC swap so any help or feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I think I know what the vibration is from. When I was trying to put my ratchet on the tensioner, I accidently thought it was the pulley itself I had to turn to get the belt off. So I had a 14mm socket and turned it a few times until I realized that the tensior was beside it and just needed the ratchet, not a socket to get the belt off.
So now when the engine is running, the tensior will move alil back and forth.... Is this normal, or do I need to tighten the pulley back up? When tightening, does it go clockwise or counter clockwise?
And I still for the life of me cant get the accumulator to stop leaking on the low side port. I have two o rings on there now and it still leaks.... Any thoughts on how to stop?

Yes, tighten the pulley back up, My guess would be you need another dryer/ accum. if the low side port is leaking. Try to tighten up the schrader valve in it and see if that helps first.
I would also remove both o-rings, on the port you shouldn't have any.

Yes I agree with all of these possiblites but consider also: The heater core has been replaced in this unit and who ever did it failed to replace all retainers necessary to keep all that plastic from making noise! My 97 does this, especially at low RPM and I believe this to be the true issue in my case. Am I going to pull the dash for a rattle in a 14 year car?....no!

No o rings on the port? When I got the kit in the mail, it had a package with three o rings in it.... Where do they go then? No instructions came with the kit so I wasnt sure if one goes on each port or not.
And also, which way is the correct way for tightening the pulley? Clockwise or counter clockwise?
Thanks.
