The lights are out!!!

The lights are out!!!
I unplugged my automatic light sensor and put in the 1k Ohm relay, then I pulled the DRL diode (the black one in the fuse block under the hood) and bent over the 86 terminal and replaced it.
Now the lights only come on when I want them to, via the light switch. I have both highs and both low beams.
Unless I miss read the post you can't do the quade beam trick, which I've yet to try, or you'll defeat bypassing the DRL??? (meaning if you bypass the DRL then do the quade light trick you'll end up with DRL again)????
I don't need quade lights, although it does look cool, just wanted to be sure.
Thanks for all the info and help.
Now if I manage to kill the gremlins in my Blazer I'll have it for life.
