Good job! The CRANK fuse should only have voltage when the starter is engaged Are you sure all of the pins were locked into the connector? And the connector fully engaged with the socket, (clicked in)?

There are no connections on any of those wires until they reach the PCM. Follow them back to the PCM and look for broken/pinched wires.

Going to give the connection a real good cleaning again tomorrow, going to get a mirror so I can have a good look into the connector on the tranny side as well.

Good idea. Those things don't come apart by themselves. Somebody had to help it. If you have a DVOM it might be a good idea to check resistance on all of those wires back to the PCM. If you need PCM pin numbers, let me know.

awesome, sounds good. will keep posted. do you have any diagrams of whats what with the wiring of the plug to the transmission?

I believe that these codes are posted in the OBD2 section which would have the diagrams attached.

One thing to consider is a faulty ignition switch contact causing the problem. You may want to test the resistance of the contacts in the ignition switch to rule that out.

UPDATE: Cleaned out the plug again, very thorough this time, looks like the shift / timing solenoid was the culprit. P0785 is all that comes up, and if I drive with my scanner attached, I can clear the codes and start in 1st and once I get to 3d gear around 2200rpm or so I clear the codes again and it will shift into 4th. Any additional input is more than welcome.
