Let me begin. I have a 2003 Trailblazer LT. Nothing special, very simple.
I'm in Afghanistan and can't take care of my TB. My wife (soon to be ex-wife) did a great job of making sure my car stayed safe while I was gone (not.) It has not been started in months.
My friend goes to get the car and move it from my old house to his house until I get back. He put the key in and the key would not turn. Then, the plastic peice, around the actual lock cylender broke off, like so:

What do ya'll think needs to be done here. I REALLY don't want to have to replace the lock cylinder, but if I have to, I will. Anyone ever had this problem, fixed the problem ect.
PLEASE HELP!!!
Also, how much would a Chev dealer charge-ish to fix it/replace it? I just want to have my TB up and running when I come back to 'Murica.

you can try wiggling away at the key. that outer part is just kinda there to help you turn it so you dont snap the key off in there. but kinda weird that both of these happen at once, wonder if someone tried to steal it with a screwdriver. but you can probably just take it to a smaller mechanic shop to fix it, dealers always charge a lot more

I thought about taking it to a shop first before actually getting the lock cylinder replaced. I guess that would be the first thing, get it towed to a shop. My buddy tried everything to get it started but he said the key ain't turning at all.
