Low voltage at idle
#11
Hmmm, good question. You might need to ask that question in the audio/visual section of this forum. Lots of electrical wiring stuff there.

they make accessory battery bolts. one side is threaded to go in the battery(side post) and the other end has threads and a nut&lock washer for a ring terminal.
another option is for top posts, these are easy to find and lots accept bare wire, or a ring terminal.

Yes upgrading the size of the wire will help. I got a dual terminal battery- upgraded grounds to 0 gauge- batt to chassis, batt to frame. Ran 4 gauge from alt to batt. I also have a 220+ amp alt.

on the website i bought my alt from recommends larger than 4awg for 200amps and over, just saying. im running 4awg on my 200 amp....

4 ga is usually ok in really short runs. I couldn't find any connectors for anything bigger or I would have used bigger though lol. The bigger the less resistance the better

low voltage
Alright, I had this exact same problem, and it drove me nuts. THE BAD NEWS....Chevy did this on purpose to "save" the electrical system from somehow going bad, i dont know why. I read this in a technical bulletin in auto manual online. So, pretty much, i was told to just deal with it. SO ITS NORMAL.

OEm Alternators are only capable of making roughly half their max rated amperage. So what you're experiancing, is completely normal. You are exceeding what the Alt can make at idle.
