Low whine under load?

Low whine under load?
I have a low whine when the vehicle is under load. It will go away if I let up on the gas. It seems to be more noticeable at highway speeds. I am wondering if this is the first signs of a hub going bad. This is on my 2000 GMC Jimmy 4WD.
