Default Metallic moaning in rear end of '00 Blazer

I need some serious help from anyone who can help. I own and love my 2000 Chevy Blazer LT, but I am still learning when it comes to DIY repairs. My brother-in-law and I replaced my brake pads last week and right after I started hearing a metallic moaning (similar to the sound those plastic schools chairs with the metal legs makes when you scraped it back on the floor) whenever I first start off from a stop or when I drive slow, like through a parking lot. It's coming from the rear and can be heard from both sides. We rechecked the callipers as I thought maybe they were locking up, but they look fine. The noise goes away after a few seconds as I speed up, or if I hit the brakes. One mechanic that checked it out said it was just my pads "seeding" in and another said it sounded like my callipers. I am going nuts and am afraid that this is going to be an expensive repair...again. If there is anyone who can help I would be grateful.....thanks...

Sounds like to me your calipers are not sliding. Were both of the caliper bolts cleaned and re-lubed?

Check the caliper pins and make sure they are lubed and not seized. I'm installing new rear rotors and pads today from autozone but one of my caliper pins was seized on the caliper bracket and broke off. The head of the nut broke off from the pin and might have to buy a new bracket if I can't figure how to get it out. That's my problem but hope you used caliper grease and lubed your pins. Did you check the brackets in the caliper that holds your pads in place? You emergency brake may be sticking too! Good luck!

Thanks for the tips. I'll check them again. We had no problem removing them. How do I know if they are seized?

If they are seized, you wouldn't be able to move them. Just like Leeroy, I broke the head off one of the guide pins and had to goto the junkyard to get another caliper bracket.

If you can rotate them in place, use a pair of pliers or vice grips to pull the pin out. Then you can clean and apply new lube to it.

Okay, I checked them out and bolts looked cleaned and lubed and were easy to remove. took pads off again and made sure the brackets were good before reattaching them. Took it for a drive and it only made the moaning sound once and that was on the way back. Is that a good sign or am looking in the wrong place? Could the U-joint make that sound or maybe the bearings?

Thanks again for helping me figure this out. I am determined to learn how to fix this car and sometimes it take more than just the book.
