Default MFI swap into 2001 Blazer?

I believe my P0300 random misfiring is due to a fuel problem, since the few times it has died, it will only kick over with a spray of starter fluid. Any info about this MFI swap, as I feel as though it may be a possible cause of my problem. Yes, I searched, but couldn't find the swap info.

Here's two:
Fuel System Conversion
Hard Starting - Fuel Pressure Concepts

Before you go buying a new injection system, first make sure that you have the proper fuel pressure and that it does not drop off.

Good point. I need to get my fuel pressure gauge and check that. If it is fuel related as it appears to be, the last thing that I want it to be is a bad fuel pump!

Well, just turning the key to on results in 61 psi fuel pressure, about 57 psi at idle, and a tap of the gas shoots it up to 66 psi. New fuel filter as well. It died on me again today. It only happens occasionally, and it seems to mostly want to do it while/after cruising on highway or after coming to a stop. It doesn't want to start again after it dies, only kicks over with starter fluid, but if I let it sit for 30 min, then try to start it again, it will start right up. WTF does this sound like? This is my daily driver, and with twin 2 year olds, I don't have a lot of time and money to start trying 10 different parts to guess the problem.

Try to get the fuel pressure reading while it is acting up. It sounds like the pump might be overheating and cutting flow/pressure.

Might want to check leakdown rate also. With the pressure tester connected: after the pump pressureizes the system, the pump will shut off, pressure must remain above 55psi for 3 to 5 minutes.

Overheated fuel pump makes a little sense, as it only seems to do it after driving a while and never did it once all winter, but did twice in the fall after I bought it on longer drives (over 30 min). So how hard is it to drop the fuel tank on these trucks?
