mirror hinge motor

RE: mirror hinge motor
Wow!, Grief, Blimey. This forum's been busy awfully whilst I was In Aussie.
Ok guys, I've done an autopsy on the damned power folding mirror & guess what? No can do! Unless the mirror glass can be successfullyremoved.
Behind the glass (which is stuck down with4 strips of rubberised tape) in the centre is a screw which holds it all together. The frame in which the glass sits has a framed edgewhich makes it almost impossible to get behind to cut out the glue. Having said that, I'll first wait until I have the cash to buy another mirrorbefore attempting to remove the glass. Bearing in mind too that there are 2 wires attached to the back of the glass. If that all works, then I will simply need to remove the wires from the plug connector at the frame (door) & pull them through the mirror body to be able to remove the mechanism from the casing.
I attach pics which may make what I say easier to understand.
Clearly, GM made these as a sealed unit so as to sell more components than spare parts. If only one could buy the mirror as a seperate item! Then the job would be easy. (not to mention cheap!)

It's been a while & I've still not gotten a new mirror.
With my recent trips to strip Blazers at Bunce I've collected 2 broken mirrors. One left (pass), the other the right (driver side). I've noticed that the drivers & passenger mirrors are constructed differently.
The passenger mirror only has one layer of glass with the heating element behind, whilst the drivers one has 2 layers of glass (the mirror is behind the clear glass) with the heating element behind. This mirror has 2 pairs of wires - one to the heating element & the other to the rim of the housing. I have no idea what the wire strip on the housing is for. Oh, & it only goes half way around!? I believe it may be possible to replace this mirror but imagine it'll be costly as the mirror & clear glass has some sort of paste between them. The rim around them is a clip on type as can be seen in the 2nd pic.
That's about all I've done for now.
