my 4x4 is not working

Default my 4x4 is not working

b]hi i have a 1998 chevy s10 blazer . the 4wd dose not want to engage in to 4wd,i have seen all of the forums on this problem but no luck with it.if u press the button it will flash but not stay in 4wd, i checked the vacuum acuater by putting a hose in there and it sucks and works , but i started the s10 with the hose unhooked and there was no vacuum while i preesed the 4x4 , i neeeeeed held i can do anyyhing with 2wd. please help , i cant afford to take it in the dealer.[/b][/b]

My guess, your transfer case doesn't want to work. Thats all I can think of.

Drive slowly forward. remove your foot from gas pedal. Try to engage when rolling forward.



Confirm the cable to the front axle is engaging. I've heard they rust out when used very little.

i have the same problem and mine is at the dealer now, i'll post up when they tell me whats wrong.

i tested the motor by removing it and addind 12 volts to the signel on it and it works , but in the car it wont work . also i have done the going slow and ot did not work...

mine I'm told was still clicking like it was going to work if put back in the truck but it wouldnt do it's job. So as soon as they replaced it, it worked perfectly.

I hope you find whats up with yours...

Check your wiring in the car with a voltmeter. Could be a broken or worse; partially broken wire or connection.
