i just bought a 95 blazer i know it needs to be recharged but i have a question about the compressor is a blazer compressor suppose to kick on and off when in ac"clutch engages and dis engages"

 

The fact that your AC clutch is cycling is good news actually. It means that at least your electrics are workings and the clutch works. The most likely problem you have is a low refrigerant charge. There is a clutch cycling / low pressure switch on the accumulator that will cycle the clutch based on system pressure. If it's low, the clutch will cycle on and off (based on the switches input). I would recommend a trip to your nearest AC service shop. They can hook up the guages and pretty quickly tell you if something is simply wrong (low pressure) or something more serious (leak, blockage, etc).

I always ask the question, "If the pressure is LOW, where did the refrigerant GO?" I know AC service can get expensive, but just pumping cans of refrigerant into the system is not always the wisest use of your $$$$. If the system is leaking, you'll pump cans of juice into the system until the cows come home and it still won't work (and you'll still be frustrated). Sometimes (especially with AC service) professional help is the cheapest solution in the long run. Good Luck.
