Mystery coolant leak.
So this 95 blazer I bought recently just developed a coolant leak that I cant find because the a/c bracket seems to be hiding it, does this sound like the lower intake gasket to you? only seems to leak when its running and under pressure. then I can see coolant running down pass side timing cover. Maybe it a waterpump bolt (wishful thinking). I know im tired of trying to fix this thing might be time for resale. thx for the help
I think I got lucky, pulled the water pump off today and it looks like it blew out the gasket on the pass. side. pump looks weep hole dry. so a few new gaskets maybe a new lower rad hose and a thermostat while im in it. be good to go.
Early & mid 1995 have CMFI which does not have the same LIM gasket troubles as the CSFI engines, (different type of gasket). More likely to be a water pump gasket on a CMFI engine. Let us know how it goes.
just finished putting the blazer back together and went for a test drive. no leaks so far. it was the waterpump gaskets. 2 new gaskets a thermostat while I was there and were back!!! the damn dexcool cost more than the parts to fix it. Now to figure out what to do with the cat that has something loose and rattling inside it.
Nitetrucker, thanks for letting us know the test drive results and the happy outcome. That is so important to this forum. It helps all those out there with similar SUV's wondering what they can do to fix it. Good job!
