Question need help 2000 blazer transfer case

I have a 2000 blazer 4door 4x4. I am pretty sure my transfer case is shot. It doesn't engage makes a bad grinding noise and the bottom drain plug was dry leaked out tail shaft. I found a few at the local junk yard. My question is what do i have to look for to make sure i get one that fits? Ie rpo codes or numbers on case? I know there are 3 and 4 switch but there is no switch in the blazer at the junk yard. thanks for your help

NP233 is 3 button, or NP236 is 4 button.
Your Tag should be on the case, just get another one with same tag.
NP231 not offered in 2000.
