Default Need help with ac compressor

Hi I have an 01 ls blazer
My blazer ac clutch was throwing sparks and now the truck will stall when the defrost or air conditioning is on
Need. Some input. Is it just the clutch or the whole compressor that is shot and how difficult are they to fix
Thanks

well if its throwing sparks it be safe to assume that the system is contaminated and u need to replace the whole thing compresser dryer orifice tube and flush it out with solvent made for ac. if u need a fast fix jut unplug the compresser at the back or top of it and you should be okay for short term as long as the bearing in the compresser isnt locking up

Ok thanks I think I am going to replace just the clutch for now as a short term fix. Not in the budget at this time

Before you start throwing parts at it, try turning the compressor shaft nut with a ratchet & socket. If you can't turn it, the compressor is locked up and needs replacement. Replacing the clutch will only empty your wallet
