Default Need help buying MAF Sensor

Don't know too much about mass air flow sensors, and I need help deciding which one to buy. The guy at AutoZone said they were expensive, and sites have them listed anywhere from $100-200, but I saw them listed on eBay for around $60. How much should a good MAF sensor cost? And lastly I don't know the difference/preference between the Plastic and Metal housing. Thanks

Due you know yours is really broke, is the platinum screen inside torn up? They can be cleaned with MAF cleaner and that will get most of them up and running.

I'm not sure if its broken or not, but the engine light came on (not on anymore though) i had it scanned and the problem was the MAF sensor, and the PVC valve. Im hoping a new MAF will help with the delayed acceleration.

IMO get a can of MAF cleaner and follow directions. It should not take more than half an hour and almost no tools. Make sure its MAF cleaner. If you want to you can unplug the MAF and see if it makes a difference. I believe the computer takes it to a default mode but since you tossed a code why not clean it anyway. Think the stuff is like seven bucks.

Yeah definitely try some MAF cleaner. Mine was throwing a code for it and had bad acceleration. Took out the sensor and cleaned, ran like a totally different vehicle. It's super easy to do and will only take you about 10mins. Just be careful not to bend or brake the little wires inside the MAF sensor.

If you are running a k&n filter or similar reusable filter(one you put filter oil on) they make a mess of your maf sensor. Get one from the junk yard. They are cheap, rarely fail, and it's a factory part.

K&N filters with oil can cause MAF issues???

I put one of those in...followed the instructions to the letter.

I have been experiencing MAF issues (verified by a friend who works for GM dealership and hooked it up to a computer) - this was AFTER I used 1.5-2 cans of CRC MAF sensor cleaner on it....

What I don't remember was whether the MAF issues started before or after I added the K&N.

Anyone else have experience with K&N causing MAF issues?

Thanks,

Jonboy
