Need help with fuel tank?
I have a 2001 blazer ls 4.3 2wd. I have never been able to pump gas in fast the way your supposed to i have to hold the lever on the gas pump like halfway or less to keep it from clicking off like it's full? Now i get out after driving it and it sounds like my exhaust is popping cooling off but i just put on a new cat so i crawled under the truck to hear better and its gas dropping back into the tank at one end i can actually hear it dripping back into the tank and i tapped it and it sounds empty at that end but it's got like 3/4 of a tank? Has anyone else ever had this problem? I'm a new guy here just looking for some advice so take it easy on me please.

As far as dripping noise - no idea.

The filling problem is typically because the gas tank is not effectively vented during filling and the gas backs up the neck when the air can't come out past the incoming gas. There should be an EVAP vent solenoid that opens and vents the tank through the tank rollover valve and the EVAP canister during filling. If this is not working or path is plugged it should set a P0446 when the EVAP part of the Emissions Readiness Tests (if it gets that far). Just fixed this same problem on my recently acquired Avalanche. For me it took a new EVAP canister.

Yes i have a evap solenoid code i can't remember the code # but i know that's what it said something about the evap solenoid circuit. I understand what is happening i just don't know what i need to replace to fix it i guess the solenoid does anyone know where the evap solenoid for the fuel tank is located on a 2001 blazer 2wd 4dr? Let me guess right on top of the tank where you can't get to it so i got to drop the tank to replace one little solenoid right lol? I already have a broken vent door thing for the air to come out of the floor vents it's a $5 part that I've had for a couple of weeks now....but you have to remove the dash to fix it and I need it for work everyday just my luck everything on this thing is difficult to fix lol!
Good luck

Theres also a you tube video showing how to use compressed air to blow out the restriction in an evap cannister. Never tried it so I don't know how long it will last.
