What was the brand of belt that you installed? I have used Goodyear Gatorback belts with great success on the s-series vehicles. I have had many other brands of belts do the same thing as you describe even when new.

get a dinner candle and dress the belt on each side, DONT DO IT BY PULLIES, if you slip your new belt may bite it, find at least 4 inches of belt and press the candle down on one side, then the ribbed side. cheap and it works.

Although you can try the candle trick, swartlkk is right. I had a squeak in my '00 Jimmy. I thought it was the idler pulley. Still had the squeak. Got a Goodyear Gatorback belt and that solved it!

It's the tensioner you need to replace.... if it's bouncing around a lot at idle then it's bad. they are like $25.

I usually get 2 tensioners per belt life.

You should never have to add "conditioners" or an other home remedy to quite a belt.

While I've never had a tensioner go bad,I must agree with dg98adams:NEVER "condition" a belt, one is only chasing the symptom, not the problem!
A belt needs to be DRY DRY DRY to function effectively!
