Default NEED power window help, ASAP!

I'll be the first to admit when I've made a mistake and, well I've made a mistake. I'm working on changing the drivers side window motor on a 95 Blazer. I've done window motors in other cars but none with the big spring before.

So, here's the mistake and where I need help. I did not know you needed to drill a hole and hold the gear to the plate with a bolt before removing the motor. So, I have all 7 rivets drilled out (the three on the motor and the four on the regulator) with the motor removed. The regulator is sitting in the door extremely cockeyed and the window pretty much won't move. I need to know how I can get the regulator out without the spring shooting out and hitting me in the eye so I can get the new motor in. Any suggestions would be great.

Hopefully everyone learns from my mistake, I know I will.

No ones ever accidently done this? Or helped some one who has? Or even have an idea on how to fix my problem? I'm up for any kind of suggestion.

About the only thing that you can try is to straighten the regulator, drill a hole, and bolt it together. Or get a replacement regulator and use a torch to heat the spring, releasing its tension.

I took one off at the junk yard the other day for my 98 jimmy (compatible with your motor/regularor). The best thing to do is the four rivets on the regulator pop off the door easily with a flat head screwdriver. Once the regulator is removed from the door you should lower the window and wiggle out the wheels from the rail under the window and inner metal door panel on back side of the door. I had someone hold the window and raise it up and down for me while I held onto the regulator to wiggle out the wheels. The springs you are worried about only go off when you removed the motor from the regulator (be careful). After that you should be fine. Remember to have the motor connection off when doing this just in case.
