Default New Belt is Squealing

I just replaced the idler pulley and put on a new Dayco belt while I was at it. Now, the belt squeals real bad. It never did with the old belt. I cleaned the pulleys. Didn't help. Is there any adjustment as far as the tensioner goes? It's so annoying!!

Are you sure you got the belt in all the notches in the crankshaft pully? I've actually missed by one notch 'cause it's hard to see. Did you give the other pulleys a spin while the belt was off to see if they were spinning free?

There is no adjustment on the tensioner.

Good news. I replaced the new Dayco belt with a new Goodyear Gatorback during my lunch break. No noise!

That is odd... Dayco makes some pretty darn good belts. But the 4.3L is a finicky engine when it comes to belts.

I thought so too! Advance Auto's best belt is the Dayco so I went to Autozone to get the Goodyear. That Dayco was so loud!! Ovbiously, I recommend the Goodyear for any Blazer owner.
