new guy and possibly the crappiest blazer ever
hi all, just sayin mines crappy, not blazers in general. i have a 2004 blazer that im having one problem after another with and this site has been most helpful (especially to figure out the key not wanting to come out) which still is not fixed, but i found out it had a emergency release button, so i just drilled a hole in the colum plastic and depress it every time we shut off the blazer, its my gf,s blazer and i think shes gettin tired of ridin in my lifted toyota pickup. ok, on to the problems... the brake pedal started going closer and closer to the floor over time, so i replaced the brake pads on back and it worked great for about 2 months, now were back to the same issue, pads are wore out again??? she drives it easy and we barely drive it any more, so it hasnt had many miles in the last 2 months, if it was just one side i would suspect the caliper being bad, but both sides(both sides of car) are equally worn out already. is it possible both caliper magicly went bad at the same time? i thought i would ask yall who mess with them all the time. 3rd problem... somehow someone broke the shifter, i have heard that the shifter problem may be tied to the key not comin out problem??? thanks for any advice! plse dont think im beating up on blazers or chevy or anything like that, its not like that at all, i just think the gf got one that has been abused and im stuck dealing with it.. p.s. i love the 4.3,(it runs amazing) i would hate for it to find a new home in my toyota pickup...lol .......just sayin. also wouldnt mind your opinion on the blazer, i personally havent heard anything horrible about them, is it worth fixing up? or should i dump it. 2004 blazer ls 2door 2wd
Everytime I pull wheels I grab calipers and twist them. That should retract them a little. Then I check for how they slide. If your pads are wearing evenly, both sides - front and back of rotors. but fast, check the fronts.
Could be you're getting all stopping power on back ones.
Sounds weird, I know.. but I've already found these brakes are not typical of how a car works.
This is what I took off the front a couple months ago and only because they 'looked bad'

Yes... taken right after removal and having about 3000 miles Daily driving since bought.

It was on a Mustang but they all should work pretty much the same. Again your front brakes should show evidence of not doing much

thanks for the input, ill check the fronts this weekend, i may grab a proportioniong valve from my local spot, they have 3 or 4 of these sittin side by side. fortunatly there sittin real close to the toyotas i plunder for my truck as well, lol incidently, i forgot 1 other problem with blazer, it wonders horribly, i jacked up front end, wiggled tires sise to side, and used a bar for up and down and the damn thing is tight, i believe its the steering gear box, any thoughts?
Common stuff on the front end, theres a rag joint between the box and the shaft also the pitman are and idler arms, theres an adjustment in the steering box, but that should only be done if all the front end parts have no play as it can hurt the box if you over tighten it
