new problem-no power to dash cluster-no start

ok i just came in but what i done was to jump the pink wire with power from the red wire and the lights came on the dash so i tried to start the truck and it started so what does this mean, do i need a new switch or something.

Sorry, I had to go to the in-laws.
But yes, your ignition switch is bad and needs to be replaced.
Thanks for jumping in there swart. (I tried to get the colors off the12volt.com)

ok i have a 95 s15 jimmy sitting it's for parts will the switch from the 95 jimmy fit the 97 blazer and how do i remove it

just a question but can a ignition switch cause my dome lights to stay on even after the doors are closed

The ignition switch should not cause your dome lights to stay on.

You could remove both ignition switches and compare, but it would really depend on what you have in the '95 since there were 3 different ECU/PCM setups used in that year and I am not certain how that may or may not have impacted the ignition switch.

the part i need is it called the "IGNITION STARTER SWITCH"

ok i took the ignition switch out of the jimmy and they looked the same except the one out of the blazer has an extra plug with 3 wires (grey, blue, pink/black). the wires come from the connector that plugs in to the harness not the connector that goes to the column, but it wasn't hook to anything and the one from the jimmy don't have the plug, but sense it wasn't hooked up i didn't see what the problem would be, so i put it in to the blazer and now the blazer will start and run and all the lights on the dash work again, but what is the plug with the 3 wires for, what does it hook too!!!
