Default New Spark Plugs

2004 Blazer, 2dr, 2wd

I have heard the AC/Delco Platinum plugs are awesome. What does replacing the spark plugs do for performance? How many would i need, and is it worth the money to do?

New Ac delco plats will do wonders if they havent been changed before. I also suggest a new cap and rotor. If youve got the horizontal cap it's about 50 bucks! Rotor is about 20. You need 6 pluggs and they will run you 28-30 bucks for plats. Also get some dialectric grease for the boot ends, makes all the difference.

I've heard they are too but I haven't had a chance to try them since I haven't change mine since I've had my truck.

Clean plugs mean hotter, faster spark which means faster ignition, which means better mpg and performance, but only if your current plugs are dirty.

Since you have a V6 you have 6 cylinders, and therefore you will need 6 plugs.

It's worth the money if your current plugs are bad. Spark plugs usually aren't viewed as a big performance part (although they can provide better performance) but rather a maintenance part. Like the fluids in your truck spark plugs degrade over time and usage and therefore require replacing. 100k miles is the GM recommended replacement period.

Good tune up with ac delco parts for a W vin:

Cap $50
rotor $20
plugs $20
wires $65!

W and Z vin codes differ alot in price. W have horizontal caps and Z have vertical.

i did a cap rotor wires and plugs about 3 months ago... I'm a '00, Same set up as your '04:

NAPA prices and Part #
6 Spark Plugs, Platinum, AC Delco $43.74 #41-993
1 Spark Plug Wire Set, Mileage Plus (5 year warranty) $22.49 #3146
1 Distributor Cap, NAPA brand (3 year warranty) $36.99 #RR253
1 Distributor Rotor NAPA brand (3 year warranty) $11.49 #RR256

State has 0% sales tax (suck it!) so the price you see, is the price i paid. plugs could have probably been cheaper if i had shopped around. (by $12 or so maybe)

$114.71 and it will last for a long damn time.

Worth the money? Yup. Performance wise? well when was the last time your plugs, wires, cap, and rotor changed? Don't know? it will help your engine run more smoothly and may even feel a bit more peppy and responsive. not an up-grade, but necessary maintenance that will pay off

OF NOTE: your plugs will come pre-gapped, but if you want the warm and fuzzy of knowing they are the right gap (could be bumpped durring transit etc, you want a .060" gap as measured by your handy plug gap tool.

so, 6 of those AC Delco plugs, the 2 dollar ones, would make a little difference? What if i did that and changed the rotor?

how many miles are on your blazer? You really wont notice any change unless your plugs are really bad.
