Default no 3rd brake light

I know this issue has happened to many people.. so here we go again.. 97 blazer ls 4dr 4wd 4.3 vortec. My 3rd brake light dosent work.. I do not have a fuse box under the hood (that i can find). Where the fuse box should be is where my ABS is. There dosent seem to be any power to the LED light.. all other lights work without trouble. Please help.. i hate gettin pulled over.

do they require 3 brake lights where you live? I was under the impression that you only had to have 2 functional brake lights..I don't think mine works either so let me know what you find out

Default no 3rd brake light legality

As far as i can tell, in the state of IN, if the vehicle is equipped with a 3rd brake light, (standard after '86) it MUST be operational. It is probable cause to pull a driver over, for what is called a "FIX IT TICKET". When you get the ticket you can show it fixed and the ticket will be removed from your record. But you have to go to court. I talked to a police officer friend of mine and she said it can be written as an unsafe vehicle ticket.. but she's a bit of a..... "explative"

It is pretty uniform that all lights a vehicle is originally equipped with need to be in working order.

You should have a fuse in the IP fuse box as well as a relay under the dash behind the glove box. The fuse will be labeled something like CHMSL (center high mount stop lamp).
