Default No power at initial take off

Hello; I just joined this forum and I'm looking for some tech help. I have a 2000 4 dr 2wd with 4.2l. 165k miles. My engine light is on and O'Reily's said it was probably the gas cap. I bought a new gas cap and light still on. But the main issue is that when I first take off, the power is very limited for about 1/10th of a mile then it's normal. I park, shut off to go into store and when I come back out it's the same thing. It seems to run ok other than some overall power loss.. maybe because of the mileage. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Look around google for OBDII drive cycle. Do that and see if the light goes off. Then report back. Oh yea for GM.

Go back to O'Reily's and pick up some MAF cleaner.

MAF sensor cleaner, a bottle of Sea Foam, new air filter. Bingo! problems are solved. Strong power on take off and engine light is off. Drove 120 miles today without any issues! Thanks. !!
