You said the blazer was a salvage? Is it possible that a tailgate with a wiper was put on it in place of where a wiperless tailgate was supposed to be? If this is the case, there would be no provisions on the dash for a switch. I am just taking a guess. I am new to the blazers and don't even know if any were made without a rear wiper.

Sounds to me like you have a dash out of an S10. I'm pretty sure Blazers don't have Air bag cutoffs.

Also, No, they never made a 4x4 Xtreme. The Xtreme is a street package.

That's exactly what mine looks like. Exactly!

So is it possible that I just have a different tailgate then?

I think it was a rear side impact because I took it in at my shop and when I had it on the lift the fuel tank looked like it was partially caved in.

 

these are typically used in standard cab trucks although this was another photo i dug up on google for xtremes, could be someone put a wiper on it that can not be run, if you can get a pic. of what your back hatch looks like with the wiper this will be easier to diagnose.

 

Here's a pic I found on google. Keep in mind, this is not my truck, but it is the same exact way. I too have been looking on craigslist and google and the only ones I have seen are had the wiper switch instead of the air bag cut off. This is really confusing me. Oh the joy of having a salvaged title.

 

do you have a black button on the back hatch to open it? and is your wiper exactly like that
