No spark???

the new cover is a 10 bolt metal and the old one is a 6 bolt plastic(i will have to double check those bolt counts). the new cover is larger as well. i was thinking about possibly removeing the dowel pins off the new motor to see if i could get the old plastic one to fit. good thing i havent trashed any of my old parts.
just to clear things up in my head.... does the inside of the dish or the outside of the reluctor ring dish face the timing cover? the more i think about it the more i get lost. i need to get some sleep... LOL

The way I understand it (cannot remember the last time I did a timing chain swap on a 4.3L), the dish goes towards you. So if it were a bowl, you would have the top side of the bowl (what you put stuff in) towards you as you slide it over the end of the crank.

sorry for the late update on this problem. i got my blazer up and running. the problem was something small that i over looked probaly 100 times, though i didnt think that it was a problem it ended up being the crank sensor. i used the one that came in the new motor(i thought i installed my old one oops). i pulled it out and put in my old one and after a little fine tuning of the timing it fired right up. in my last post i talked about the timing covers. they are both 6 bolt pattern but there is no way to swap them due to size difference.
thank you for all your help.
if anyone else is doing this swap, let me know if you need any help.
