if you cant hear the pump and there is nothing at the schrader valve then yes I would say the pump is shot, But have you checked that the emergency shut off switch hasn't tripped or the relay under the hood? you could try hitting the bottom of the tank with a rubber mallet ,if the pump kicks in then you can move it if you have to?

I would say before go dropping tanks and pulling pumps check to see if you have power back there with a multi meter. Nothing as much fun as dropping the tank and have it not work!
What year is your truck. There can be two spots you can jump 12v to the pump.
This pic is courtesy of Captain Hook, if you put 12v to it you should hear the pump run and read 12v back at the pump. If you have an older one like me under the hood on the port side over the wheel well by the power supply you will see a 10 or 12 gage red wire with a quick disconnect just looking like it has no place to go. That's the fuel prime. Put 12v to that and see if you get anything to the back. Another thing to check is the black wire from the pump to the frame. Should be less then five ohms resistance (perfect world)
You need to go to homepage find the sticky that reads 96 fuel system diagnosis.
Good Luck, Spittybays.............
